Last week, myself and MantisJ went to see a TV director who was really interested in doing a documentary on pen spinning in the UK. He also wanted to know if we could maybe do an event to show case pen spinning in the country to make it better known because he wants to help us advertise it.

We were thinking maybe we could invite some good spinners from other countries to demonstrate pen spinning to the public at the event. This will require some financial backing and providing its a good idea we will try and pitch to some companies by inviting a few spinners from france maybe to the pitch to help us show live how good pen spinning is.

We were thinking maybe some kind of friendly tournament so the public can see what pen spinning is. With the help of the director, we can help us advertise thise show case across the media to help make spinning better known.

What do you guys think?

If it is to be a documentary on spinning in the UK it seems rather strange to have spinners invited from France, no?

Hmm. Throwing some ideas out there... Perhaps there could be a gathering, with a small tournament at it. They could film the tournament and show highlights of battles etc. Some games could be played such as tack-ons and perhaps some slow motion clips of some tricks and quick explanation of a simple trick or two. There could also be some stuff about how the PSUK community was set up or something like that? Interviews with a few people, such as CrAsH and Asakawa...

How long would the documentary be? I'm pretty sure you could run a 1/2 hour documentary but a whole hour could prove more difficult?

Basically there will be the documentary on spinning, and part of that documentary is the event, and its to advertise what pen spinning is. We need good pen spinners to come here and help us advertise how good it really is to kind of help it pick up over here.

We could do your gethering idea during that time for the documentary, but we also were thinking bringing those good spinners here to demonstrate to the public and to have it filmed for the documentary. For example you know the japanese tournament event, it was sponsored by pentel and a few other companies and they good a live audience of 3000 people to watch it.

If we could get some financial backing from companies we could organize some kind of public event where by those good spinners could come and demonstrate it you know. We could have our uk meeting in the documentary to.

I agree with some things that Mats pointed out such as the UK PS community (PSUK of course). Nya~ Bringing over good spinners from france is OK but you might as well make it a french documentary then ._. Nya~

Shouldn't we try and advertise about the event first?
We don't even know how many pen spinners there are in the UK. There could be some good spinners on UK soil...
Advertising would be costly, promoting it on TV would be expensive! (Unless we're getting sponsored).

French Spinners to show off how skillful pen spinning can be is a good idea. PSUK up against them in the Tourney... We'll know the winner be French. haha (Its all fun I suppose).

Any plans where you gonna host the event?
Would it be best to be in a lively area? Attract a lot of viewers like in Japan "audience of 3000 people". I wouldn't expect up to 2000 audience >.<

Having a sponsor would be nice, I'm sure CrAsH has a few in mind. (Lets grab Pental haw haw~)

Firstly i want to say again, the invitation of the foreign spinners is for the event only, it will just be included in the documentry, the whole documentary will be aout uk spinners pretty much.

As for the event, we first need to pitch to some companies first. I know a few people in some companies such as pentel. Im firstly going to organize a pitch sometime in the next few weeks and hopefully a few spinners can come with me to it. If that is a success then we can start to organize a possible event with the help of their backing.

About the TV advertising etc, thats going to be sorted out by the director that Mantis and I met up with last friday, we said he doesnt mind doing it for us so its cool.

I take it the pitch would be happening in London? If it's happening before mid-October (which it seems it is), I will not be able to attend as I'm back working at the circus from tomorrow (Sunday) until then, and we have no days off. If it's after then I may be able to attend.

We know who the UK spinners are, they are basically all active on these forums.

I see what you mean now CrAsH, about inviting over some spinners from the continent. Perhaps we can grab one or two from Holland (Erirornal, Patte) and one or two from France (Fratleym, Skatox etc) and then we will have some really skilled spinners for the documentary.

Anything new happening then CrAsH?

I couldn't find one pen company in London haha
I like the idea that IVESOUND told me, custom made pens for attendees at the event.
Like those special printed RSVPs given in the Japan event.
